Abstract The present research work deals with the nonlinear structural behavior of the guyed towers The thesis starts with an introduction including the description of the different types of guyed towers, uses of them and their advantage. Also a summary of the present work is presented. A historical review and a literature survey of the methods of analyzing single inclined guy cables and the method of static and stability analysis of guyed towers have been presented. The nonlinear static analysis of the guyed tower by the energy method is explained and the stability finite deflection theory is applied to take the effect of the axial force on the mast. The method for determining the critical buckling loads is illustrated and a non dimensional shear stiffness factor called CPF which represents the elastic critical load is introduced. The results are illustrated in curves and tables which help the designer to perform economic and efficiency design for the guyed towers. |
