Abstract One of the major medical problems in the elderly persons in the increased incidence of thromboembolic disorders the possible relationship between these disorders and measurable changes in the blood coagulation factors in association with the fibrinolytic behaviour has been the object of many recent investigations whether or not the tendency toward thrombosis seen in the elderly is due to a hypercoagulable state is still a matter of controversy this work therefore was done to detect changes in blood coagulation and fibrinolysis which may exist in the elderly in extensive and comprehensive way The study was done on twenty normal elderly subjects sixty years and more and ten healthy young adults in the age group from twenty to thirty five years as a control group all subjects were submitted to the investigations: 1 – platelet count and platelet aggregation 2 – study of blood coagulation . |
