Abstract
rejection of fore milk all results were Twenty two cows were used for studing the efficiency of premilking udder preparation on the hygienic quality of milk. Eleven of them served as a control, the other elevn cows were subjected prior to milking to washing of teats with running water plus drying with individual paper towel, followed by dipping of teats in iodophor 0.05 % plus drying and rejection of fore milk. Swabs were taken from a 0.5 cm radius around teat orifice before any preparation, after washing with water plus drying and after washing with water + teat dipping plus drying. After that a second part was carried out
Jit was an application of previous preparations on a herd of fifity cows, Milk
samples were collected after washing of teats with water plus drying.,
washing with water plus teat dipping., Washing with water + teat dipping
+ rejection of fore milk. Results was as followed
I Chemical examination
a) Titratable acidity
- In experimental animals, the mean value of LA. were 0.129 % and
0.121 for milk samples before and after preparation.
For bulk milk samples of a herd results were 0.115 % ,0.118 , 0.121
% and 0.125 % before treatment., after washing with water., washing
with water + teat dipping., washing with water + teat dipping +
within normal limits and no great differences between them, This was due to the test was carried out promptly after milking.
b) Chiorid test gualitative
The test was carried out and used for discarding of mastitic cows.
II Bacteriological examination
1. Total bacterial count
In expremental animals results show that the mean value of total bacterial count were 8.7 x 106 , 4.8 x 106 , 2.6 x 106 for swab before treatment., swab after washing with water., swab after washing with water + teat dipping in iodophor while results were 5.7 x 106 , 1.7 x 106 , 8.5 x 106 in fore milk., milk after treatment and control milk respectively.
For milk samples of a herd the mean value of TBC were 7 x io, 5.8 x io, 1.4x 106 and 2,6x 106 for milk samples before treatment., after washing with water,, washing with water + teat dipping., and washing with water + teat dipping + rejection of fore milk.
