Abstract The design of an enclosure for speech activities (mosques, lecture halls, theaters, classrooms, ... etc.) is not only an architectural matter, whereas, the success of this enclosure in the function which it is build for depends on how the audience will perceive the sound. Because sound energy behaviour depends mainly on the enclosure form, finishing materials, volume, and all other architectural considerations, a tool for sirnu lation of sound energy in closed spaces has been established. Most of these acoustical simulation models are acoustically oriented, in other words, they are designed to be used by Acousticians with their technical terminology. This thesis proposes ”A menu tree of an interface for acoustics simulation in computer aided architectural design”, to provide the Architect with a tool that could be used in the architectural design process of speech halls. This proposed menu tree is based on expert system technique. using an acoustical knowledge base, to guide the Architect through all the design process from the acoustical point of vj ew til reduce the acoustical problems. and ensure that the designed enclosure is acousucally successful. |
