and the concepts of an MIS are presented through the analysis
of different theories of research workers. Basic structural
concepts of an MIS is presented which deal with types of
informations, information requirements, MIS structure, Data
base, synthesis of MIS.
The overview of MIS literature available has given
the first step towards formulizing the case study prespnted

it has an important role in determining the level of perfor-
mance of most activitlesof the company. The Planning Requirements
and stock control sections as two sections within
Production Planning and Control Subsystem have been identified
as the main area which has a potentiality to the applications
of MIS. It is therefore selected. Activities and informations
handled in this area are defined. Current problems are also
identified.
A computerized approach is proposed and designed to handle
the situation. The approach is tried for several computer runs
to check its suitability for the case.
Results indicate that adopting the proposed approach would
result in advantages over the existing system. Most notably
in handling information and the time required, which in turn
int.licute some pOGslblo cost uiJvlnqs.
