Abstract

1- Coronary heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in both developed and developing countries, being potentially preventable and its socioeconomic importance provide considerable motivation for development of non invasive diagnostic imaging tool. Conventional coronary angiography is still considered the main investigation for the diagnosis of CAD yet it is invasive procedure carries a risk of multiple complications as myocardial infarction, stroke up to death .
2- The emergence of MDCT has had significant impact on cardiac imaging. MDCT angiography and advanced image processing have brought coronary CT angiography into the clinical realm, but it remains the most demanding of CT angiography tests in terms of spatial, contrast, and temporal resolution.
3- The current generation of 64-slice MDCT scanners with sub millimeter slice collimation and high temporal resolution permits robust, fast, and reliable contrast-enhanced imaging of coronary arteries and coronary plaque.
