Abstract
The present study aims at investigating a particular aspect of the correlation between the global structure of discourse and the structure of clauses, namely, the correlation between discourse thematic organization and the clause topical structure in written english narrative.
Most of the works in this domain have been solely concerned with topical structure depending on made up isolated sentences or fragments of discourse.
