Abstract Misoprostol which is a prostaglandin E1 analogue, is widely used in many countries for cervical ripening and labor induction. Misoprostol has number of advantages, stable at room temperature (does not require refrigeration), and not expensive. However many clinical studies have found that vaginal misoprostol more potent than oral misoprostol route but it carries more risk for hyper stimulation than oral route. Recently, the sublingual route was developed as intermediate effect between vaginal and oral routes as it had effect of vaginal route and safety of oral routs. The aim of this study to compare the safety and efficacy of 50µg of misoprostol which administrated sublingually, orally and vaginally. This study was carried out on 90 pregnant women who will be admitted to Ain Shams Maternity Hospital divided into 3 groups, each group contains 30 pregnant women, it was no significant difference between 3 groups regarding number of women who delivered within 24 hours but, the induction delivery interval was shorter in sublingual and vaginal routes compared between oral route. No significance difference between sublingual and vagina routs. There’s no significant difference as regarding neonatal outcome and maternal complication among 3 groups. |
