Abstract Rifampin is one of the most frequently antimicrobial agent, used in the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis. It has many adverse reactions, the hepatic reaction is considered to be rhe most common adverse reaction after gastrointestinal one. Renal affection is also reported. The aim of the present work is to study the histological and historhemical changes that might occur in the liver and kidney after prolonged intake of rifampin. Thirty adult male rabbits were used in this study, their hody weight ranged from 1000-1250 grams. Twenty of them recieved rifampin in a dose of 15 mg/Kg body weight (equivalent to human therapeutic dose) orally daily for one month, while 10 animals were used as controls. All the animals were sacrificed by decapitation at the end of the experiment. Fresh biopsies were taken from the liver and kidney. The specimens were subjected to the following: I.
