Abstract

In this study, the hydrodynamic effect of regular waves on seawalls or breakwaters at different wave periods has been examined experimentally in terms of wave reflection coefficient, Kr; relative wave run-up, Rup/Hi; and relative wave run-down, Rdown/Hi. The suggested seawalls and breakwaters include five different types. The first type is impermeable plane seawall, while the second type is a plane wall with rectangular dissipater blocks distributed horizontally in a regular manner on wall surface. In addition, the third type is a plane wall with triangular dissipater blocks distributed horizontally in a regular manner on wall surface. Then the fourth type is a plane wall with regular horizontal slots and the last type is a triangular serrated seawall with regular horizontal slots. Experimental results of the present investigation are represented in the form of curves and tables. The curves exhibit the effect of different water properties, incident waves, and seawalls dimensions on the hydrodynamic parameters mentioned above. The suggested models had been compared with the previous works and give an acceptable agreement. Also, regression analysis is used for getting the empirical relationships in order to predict the hydrodynamic performance of each suggested models.
