Abstract

In this thesis, a proposed system for Ambulance management has been presented. The proposed system has discovered and optimized the desired path using GIS, GPS, and GPRS. It has been proven that the proposed system is effective and meet the needs of reality. It has been made sure of its success in reducing the required time to reach accident sites. This thesis solved the problems that produce from peak hour traffic, it introduces a decision support system for the dispatch and management system named ”Ambulance management system (AMaSy)” which benefits from the advantages of the integration between geographic information system and communications technology. The elements of (AMaSy) are hardware, software, database schema, communication and data transfer techniques, methodology of work. (AMaSy) hardware is divided into two main components, input devices and control center. The main input devices are GPS-trackers which is geo-info producer. Control center contains : communication server, database, and application server, (AMaSy) Database is consists of spatial tables which stored as GIS database. (AMaSy) data transfer techniques are modules for receiving geo-information of the ambulances locations and sending the best route description.
Methodology of work in this thesis is based on the identify the best route with shortest arrival time from ambulance to the accident site then from the accident site to the nearest hospital. It focused to minimize the arrival time by calculating the remaining time for each ambulance even that which in duty and choose the best one that where least arrival time to the accident site. Database contained three tables, the first table deals with roads network, it contained about 11845 records for all streets segment in road network (Road Network table), the second table deals with AL Mansoura city milestones, it contained about 5922 records for most building in city, these two tables represented as two layers in Arc GIS and the third table display the ambulance location on the road network by the data that transfer from GPS-tracker to the server port. Static IP and GSM network technology are necessary for transmission this data.
