Abstract Leakage from sewage pipe lines interact with groundwater causing different types of soil contamination. General health is exposed to irreparable danger whenever soil contamination enters the food chain either through crops cultivated in contaminated soil or drinking water. This thesis presents an application of numerical models in order to investigate the transport process of contamination through a defined area of land that has several different uses (residential zones, cultivated area). SEEP/W and CTRAN/W, two software products, provided what it takes to track Oxygen-consuming organics (OCOs) contamination through analyzing both (BOD) and (COD) as main contaminant indices. Various time frames are taken to investigate how future remedial scenarios will affect environmental pollution. various cases are assumed to observe how effects can differ according to different scenarios. |
