المستخلص The study aims at identifying abuse against children and its relation to some social changes. The study sample consisted of (378) primary school pupils. The researcher used the interviewing method for data collection. The study results point to that the parents’ educational level, area of residence (rural – urban), family size, the child’s order of birth among his/her siblings, the type of parent (father – mother) and the type of child (male – female) are all elements that strongly affect the occurrence of child abuse. Accordingly, the lower the educational level is the more frequent child abuse incidents take place. Moreover, students in rural areas are more exposed to abuse and the youngest and eldest children are less exposed to it. It is also evident from the results that male children are more exposed to abuse than female children are and that mothers are more abusive to children than fathers.36. |
