Abstract

1:- Introduction:- The main goal of This thesis presents an experimental study of The performance of the centrifugal and the proposed hybrid pumps are performed at a speed 2900, 2000 and 1450 rpm for different ratios of centrifugal and jet pumps flow rates. The effect of the throat ratio (D/L) variation of the jet pump is also investigated at different ratios of D/L=0.33, 0.4, 0.5, 0.66. the characteristics curve of the hybrid system obtained and also the hybrid system map performance is also obtained at different throat ratio.
Experiments show the propose system increases the discharge head depending on the ratio of the jet and the centrifugal pumps flow rates. It found that the maximum increasing of the discharge head is about 47% at speed 2900 rpm, about 28.8% at speed 2000 rpm and about 15% at speed 1450 rpm. At the maximum flow rate ratio for all jet pump throat ratios. This means the variation of the jet pump throat ratio D/L has no observed effect on the hybrid system performance.
2:- Study scope:- A review is presented the goal and clarifying its contents with a quick introduction of centrifugal pump and jet pumps also studying the hybrid centrifugal-jet pump performance as explanation about the cases which have been studied in this thesis, and discusses the literature review, Experimental and theoretical studies about the of centrifugal pump, jet pumps and the hybrid centrifugal-jet pump
3:- Steps Objective:- The current work includes a scheme and explanation of the test-rig and the used measurement devices with photos for every part in addition to the data reduction which have been calculated by using some equations.
4:- Steps of Study:- In this research, previous the results hybrid centrifugal-jet pump performance presented. These results include the effect of the throat ratio (D/L) variation of the jet pump is also investigated at different ratios of D/L=0.33, 0.4, 0.5, 0.66, at different speed N=2900, 2000 and 1450. The obtained results show that the propose system increases the discharge head depending on the ratio of the jet and the centrifugal pumps flow rates.
