Abstract
This study was planned to evaluate MOS 500 effects as combined water and feed additives or as water additive only; on growth performance parameter, survival rates, Polymerase chain reaction and denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (PCR-DGGE) analysis; and to analyze the induced tissue alterations histopathologically. The growth parameters indicated that groups with treated feed using MOS was significantly higher than the control group. The physicochemical parameters of water quality indicated that there were no significant differences between all groups. Survival rates was significantly improved in groups with treated feed using MOS compared to control group. Histopathological findings indicate that the three groups were normal in there histomorphology with improvement in the villi length of the group used MOS as bot feed additive and water additive compared to the two other groups. PCR-DGGE analysis show that a single species or species that contained chemically equivalent DNA dominated the intestinal tract of all Nile tilapia regardless of dietary treatment.
