Abstract

The thesis presents the struggle of the American writer Rebecca Walker. Walker’s writing focuses on the rights of women, race, power, and culture. She lived a harsh life after the divorce of her parents. The outcome of such long suffering is depicted in her non-fictional and fictional works. The thesis shows the suffering of young Rebecca in her memoir White, Black, and Jewish Autobiography of Shifting Self. It reflects the feminist trend and the welfare of woman and family in To Be Real Telling the Truth to Change the Face of Feminism. The thesis also sheds light on Walker’s decision to be a mother after long years of hesitation in her Baby Love: Choosing Motherhood After a Lifetime of Ambivalence.
