The study called ”The reality of urban development in the new city of Damietta and its future prospects” comes in six chapters preceded by an introduction and followed by a conclusion containing a set of recommendations and ending with a list of references on which the researcher relied and ruing the study of the new city of Damietta. The first chapter deals with the components of urban development in the city mentioned and discusses the geographic location, spatial relations, and the location of the city for the urban centers of the governorate, which was studied through analyzing the road network, urban transport, accessibility, as well as the characteristics of the city location and its geological composition and elements of the climate, human factors like land prices and the impact of the presence of the port of Damietta , tourism , the impact of university , industry and government policies followed.The second chapter deals with the demographic characteristics of the population in the city such as the changes in population size and its rates in the city and the growth of the population, and the population size compared to the governorate and studying the components of population growth, development of natural increase, population distribution and density, Population characteristics in the new city of Damietta, population composition (age, gender, educational status, marital status) and the development of population activities. The third chapter, entitled: The Urban Structure of New Damietta city, dealt with the urban plan which included the old city plan, the development of the old nucleus, the regular plan and the planned growth of the city, the random growth and the overcoming of the old location, the incentives of urban growth, urban extension patterns, such as urban tapestry, hybrid urban fabric, composite urban fabric, and scattered urban fabric. It also
highlighted buildings in the urban structure map, density of buildings, density in the general area, Residential buildings, streets, and the density of the streets, it also dealt with the housing levels in the new city of Damietta, per capita housing, city buildings, building heights, building cases, rental value of residential buildings.
