Abstract

This thesis represents the whole experience of figuring out the association between sustainability from the architectural vision and user`s thermal comfort towards campus urban design. One of the cores of sustainability is the thermal comfort inside every urban space which can be called as outdoor Environmental Quality, so figuring out the relationship between thermal comfort and sustainable urban design of campus is the base of this thesis. Certain factors like building form, it`s orientations, and design landscape environmental factors are essential to characterize in critical environments, such as sustainable urban campus. Because they influence occupant comfort and health, outdoor environmental quality, and the progression of comfortable. Egyptian campuses are suffering from deterioration in all life systems of their built environments or new urban environment. The main problem is that there are no sustainable systems for urban campus. Also, what makes the problem bigger is that gap between theoretical sustainable systems and corresponding practical systems. it is vital to provide thermal comfortable conditions that meet occupants needs because of the problem of controlling the outdoor thermal environment. So as to understand the long-term thermal comfort in outdoor spaces. fascinating public open spaces can help as key for designing elements to improve quality of life in urban outdoor spaces and to reduce the negative impact of urbanization. open outdoors spaces should meet the expectation of possible users and propose the accurate mix of sustainable principle. Furthermore, there are many characteristics that define the thermal comfort in the campus, air temperature, wind speed, humidity, t cloth and mean radiant temperature are the base core characteristics of any campus outdoor environment, so the study will focus on measuring the thermal satisfaction`s user in urban design of campus by measuring the temperature and wind speed and humidity as a presenter of his thermal comfort in outdoor space. The thesis uses digital simulation software to compare temperature degrees and air flow rates measures in outdoor environmental quality standard to simulate the thermal comfort of users in urban outdoor spaces. Sky view factor (SVF) plays a vital part on the thermal environment because of the solar radiation fluxes and it is one of the major elements.
