Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate nurses’ compliance regarding infection prevention measures at outpatient obstetrics and gynecological outpatient clinics. A descriptive Study design was conducted at obstetric outpatient clinics in Mansoura city hospitals, which are: family planning clinic, antenatal clinic, and gynecological clinic as follow: Mansoura University Hospital, Mansoura General Hospital, El-Salam International Hospital, and Health insurance Hospital. The sample size was 50 nurses. It showed that most of nurses’ age ranged from 20 -30 years old. In addition, (64% & 56%) of nurses attended training courses about infection prevention measures and took virus B vaccination. All nurses complied with wearing gloves when contact with blood and during invasive procedure while more than three quarter did not practice hand hygiene before and after removing gloves. In addition more than third of nurses did not wear gloves during skin disinfection. There was significance relation between age, hospitals, educational level, vaccination, periodic examination and nurses’ knowledge score. Based on the results of the present study the following recommendations are: 1. Establishing infection prevention committee at Mansoura City Hospitals to monitor health team compliance with infection prevention measures. 2. Provide hospitals with infection prevention standards to be followed by all health team. 3. Investigate health team compliance with infection prevention measures at obstetric and gynecological health services at Mansoura city.
