Abstract

Hybridization among the genotypes has been done by line × tester method ( Kempthorne, 1957), during anthesis as the tassels of male parent and the silks of females appeared. The experimental work of this study was carried out in 2015 and 2016 summer seasons at Gemmeiza and Mallawy Experimental Station of the Agriculture Research Center (ARC), Egypt. Yellow maize experiment: from results: 1-the parental inbred lines P8 and Gm1021 had popular negative and significant principles of (g^i) for days to 50% silking under all environments, over location and density and collective data. 2-the parental inbred line P6, P8 and Gm 1021 had desirable significant (g^i) for grain yield under all environments and combined data for most of studied traits. 3- Two Single crosses P1×Gm174 and P6×Gm1021 were significantly better than both checks SC162 and SC168 for grain yield, shorter for plant height and earlier in days to 50% silking and days to 50% tasseling. 4-For grain yield (ard/fad.), the results critical out that, two crosses; (P1×Gm174 and P6×Gm1021) had highly significant effect (SCA) for grain yield over locations and combined under two densities. 5-For grain yield (ard/fad.), the results pointed out that, seven crosses; P1×Gm174, P4×Gm174, P6×Gm174, P6×Gm1021, P7×Gm1021, P8×Gm1002 and P8×Gm1021 had its superiority percentage over the check SC 162 and SC168 for grain yield. White maize experiment: from results: 1-The parental inbred lines P6, P8, P9 and SC21 had desirable negative and significant values of (g^i) for days to 50% silking under all environments, over location and density and combined data. 2-The parental inbred lines P6, P7, P5 and P8 had desirable significant (g^i) for grain yield under all environments and combined data and most of studied traits. 3-Three crosses P1×SC21, P6×SC21 and P7×SC21 were significantly better than both checks TWC321 and TWC324 for grain yield, shorter for plant height and earlier in days to 50%silking and days to 50% tasseling. 4-For grain yield (ard/fad.), the results pointed out that, three crosses; P4×SC21, P5×SC24 and P7×SC24 had highly significant effect (SCA) for grain yield over locations and combined under two densities. 5- For grain yield (ard/fad.), the results pointed out that, five crosses; P5×SC24, P6×SC21, P6×SC24, P7×SC21 and P7×SC24 had its superiority percentage over the check TWC321 and TWC324 for grain yield.
