Abstract

This thesis includes applying the cyclic voltammetry technique in presence of electrolyte solution such as HCl, KCl and citric acid by using gold electrode to study the electrochemical behavior of redox reactions for salts such as nano calcium acetate, calcium chloride, nickel chloride and selenium dioxide. Gold electrode is used as a sensor to detect Ca+2, Ni+2 and Se+4 by using low concentration from these salts. This thesis includes the study cyclic voltammetry of nano calcium acetate in absence and presence of methylene blue in HCl solution, calcium chloride in absence and presence of methylene blue in HCl solution, nickel chloride in acidic medium (citric acid) in absence and presence of fluoro benzoic acid, potassium ferric oxalate and congo red, and also selenium dioxide in acidic medium (HCl) in absence and presence of methylene blue. This studying was done at room temperature. We studied the effect of different concentration of metal ions and ligand and the effect of different scan rates. The results obtained were used to calculate the diffusion coefficients, rate of electron transfer constant, surface coverage, amount of cathodic and anodic electricity as well as thermodynamic parameters like stability constant and Gibbs free energy. The theoretical studies the calculations of these results. Finally, this thesis includes the study application of cyclic voltammetry in detection of calcium ions in Nile River near Turil area in Mansoura city and the distilled water prepared water in our laboratory in aqueous solution HCl, and of quantitative estimation of nano calcium acetate concentration. The results data indicated that SeO2 decrease hydrogen evolution wave and less decomposition of HCl.
