Abstract

In the past half century, the growing human population has continued to increase its rate of resource consumption. The dependence of the world’s population and economies on nonrenewable energy resources such as fossil fuels and fuel wood to fuel their economic production and growth population will lead to a host of problems. hese problems include more impacts from human activities in environmental degradation such as pollution, landfills at capacity, toxic waste, global warming, resource, ozone depletion and deforestation. ecently, since the Industrial Revolution, the world has observed vast technological achievements, population growth, and corresponding increases in resource use. Accordingly we are now facing increasing of energy consumption in buildings and cities and dependence non- renewable energy resources. o the research aim to using Photovoltaic processors to achieve Sustainable Urban Design of residential neighborhoods by energy efficient and optimal design of high-performance buildings in residential neighborhoods with multi-functional solar PV systems so as to achieve reduced electric lighting energy consumption ,maximum generation of renewable solar power , achieving sustainable development, low energy consumption and the balance of energy needs to be supplied by using renewable technologies in residential neighborhoods. selected case study is a neighborhood in new Assiut City in Egypt. This study has four steps to achieve sustainable urban design of residential neighborhoods. Firstly, Using the Design Builder to evaluate the thermal behavior for selected models in case of study. Then calculating the electricity consumption of 4 units per model .Unit orientation (1): Northeast.Unit orientation (2): Northwesterly.Unit orientation (3): Southeastern. Unit orientation (4): Southwesterly.Secondly, installing the processors on the units and the buildings facades to reduce the thermal loads on the building facades.Thirdly, calculating energy consumption, calculating the power consumption after the work of processors, then calculating the percentage of savings in consumption achieved by each treatment and choosing the best percentage saving electricity consumption.Fourthly, studying the effect of the buildings shade on some of them to reduce the thermal loads on the building facades and choose one of the sources of renewable energy which is solar cells and calculating the quantities of electrical energy produced by those solar cells.Fifthly, studying the situation of the case study building with the neighboring buildings in different directions (north, east, west and South ) and at the distances between building 5m. It will be found that the energy saving in the building in diffrent orinations.Sixthly, showing charts and tables of results and compare it.Finally, recording the Conclusions and recommendations.
