Abstract
This study aimed to determine the prevalence of iron deficiency anemia among pregnant women in first trimester who attend to Obstetrics and Gynecology outpatient clinic in Mansoura University Hospital. And compare the efficacy of different modalities of treatment either oral iron therapy or intravenous iron therapy in treatment of iron deficiency anemia of pregnancy. Subjects who were fulfilled inclusion criteria of this study were 191. 119 subjects were non anemic while 72 were anemic giving a prevalence of 37.7% . Stage 2: Anemic women were randomly assigned to either intravenous or oral group. 32 patients were in intravenous group and 32 patients in oral group which was decided by sequentially numbered, sealed opaque envelopes.
