Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the variability among twelve genotypes of Faba bean (Vicia faba, L.). Using morphological and molecular methods of assessment to furnish standard uniform and definitive information of the characteristics of the genotypes. Consequently, such information would supply a great deal of knowledge which in turn support quality control and certification procedures thus, keep the purity of the superior Faba bean genotypes under multiplication and to avoid or minimize genetic contamination under the environmental conditions of Kafr El-Sheikh governorate. *Methods & Results: A field experiment was carried out during winter seasons of 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 at Sakha Agricultural Research Station, Agricultural Research Center, Kafr El-Shikh Governorate. The main objective of this experiment was to identify 12 genotypes of faba bean (Vicia faba, L.) at different growth stages. A randomized complete block design (RDBD) with three replications was used in this study. Biochemical analysis was carried out at laboratories of the Seed Technology Research Section, Field Crop Research Institute, ARC, Ministry of Agriculture, Giza, Egypt. The morphological identification was conducted usually using the descriptors issued by International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV 2015). *Conclusion: The morphological identification was conducted usually using the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) descriptors (2015) for twelve genotypes of faba bean (vicia faba, L.) during the two seasons of 2017-2018 and 2018-2019. Also we can make identification using PCR-ISSR method, protein electrophoresis and Isozymes analysis. |
