Abstract

In heterogeneous networks (HetNet), the handover is an important process that affects the quality of service (QoS) performance. The decision of handover is the objective rule in the handover process. The main objective of this paper is to propose a fuzzy logic model to calculate the QoS for LTE networks based on handover process. The fuzzy logic model is designed for macro or small cell construction and use Signal to Interference–Noise Ratio (SINR), data rate, load, distance between user and base station, and velocity of user equipment as parameters. To reduce the number of rules in the fuzzy model, the proposed design is arranged as a combination of multi stage fuzzy logic. This will simplify the design for large input parameters, i.e., reduce the design complexity. The new proposed model consists of three stages to calculate the QoS. The design will find its application in VOIP, HTTP, Videos, and Email services. Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) designed to four applications and compared with fuzzy logic.
