Abstract

1. Introduction: The heritage and architectural sites have been affected by the natural catastrophe, war, and weather variations. So, it`s important to preserve these sites and describe them by document and palns.in recent years, for efficiency with regard time, cost and accuracy, the photogrammetric technique was used. The traditional method for documentation need to long time and big effort or required unconventional expertise and skills at the same time high cost.so, it was must find new style to attract and interactive and able to give areal impression and achieved low cost and less time than previous methods. All of that can be found through three dimensional modeling with close range photogrammetry. This research investigates creating 3D model for Nasr mosque façade in Mansoura, Egypt by using close range photogrammetry technique for comparison between Rollie 6008 filmed metric camera with (AGFA scanner and HP flatbed scanner), 3 digital cameras (Nikon D5200-Canon 1300D-Sony DSCW830) and Samsung Galaxy S7 edge mobile camera with reference to iterations of control points and number of images for 3 items( accuracy –time- price) and determining the calibration parameters of digital cameras .using the best results of cameras observations and modeling by AUTOCAD program. All the processes to convert the observed points into a 3D model are described. The results provide that using metric camera with photogrammetry scanner achieves high accuracy camera observations increases comparison with total station observations whenever the higher of resolution and monitoring of Nasr mosque façade and prove that Nikon D5200 camera is the best choice in digital cameras for generating a representative 3D model required for document Nasr mosque façade . 2. Research Objectives: Aims of this thesis are: 1- Investigate the accuracy and the reliability of reflector less total station observations. 2- Deducing the inner parameters of used digital cameras by suitable calibration test. 3- Evaluate using CDW (close range work station) software in dealing with metric and non-metric (digital) cameras. 4- Investigate the accuracy and the reliability of observations resulting from image analysis. 5- Analysis 3D data acquisition and processing using total station observations and the same observations resulting from image analysis for El-Nasr mosque façade at Mansoura city in Egypt. 6- Find out the optimum processing software and the best program for creating 3D model. 3. Outline of the Thesis: This thesis consists of five chapters. A summary of the main contents of these chapters is given as follows: Chapter (1) Contains an introduction for the thesis which involves the justification, research background, aims and objectives, and the thesis outline. Chapter (2) This chapter presents an introduction of close range photogrammetry technique, it`s importance, historical background, types of terrestrial cameras, image and camera coordinate system, the benefits of using it in several fields. It also present definition how to camera calibration and the concept of self-calibration and collieanrity equation. It show how to calculate the camera station and object point coordinate and software that deal with all of these data acquisition. Chapter (3) This chapter includes the methodology to achieve the study objectives. It also describes in details site inspection, data acquisition, used instruments, used processing and modeling software. Chapter (4) This chapter shows the results of data analysis and the possibility of using digital cameras in the documentation and also determining how accurate the resulting drawing. Chapter (5) The chapter contains the summary and conclusion of the thesis. It gives also the recommendations for future work in this field.
