Abstract The main aim of the present thesis is focused on the preparation and characterization employing elemental analyses, thermal (TG and DrTG), spectral (IR, UV-visible, 1H NMR, Mass , XRD, 1H NMR and ESR) and magnetic measurements of new complexes of symmetrical 2-(2-(2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene) hydrazinyl)-2-oxo-N-(pyridine-2-yl)acetamid (H4MPA) with Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Cd(II), Zn(II), Hg(II) , V(IV)O2 and U(VI)O2 metal ions . The biological activity including antimicrobial (antibacterial& antifungal) and antitumor activity was carried out. The obtained results can be summarized as follow: 1- preparation of new complexes with ligand (H4MPA). 2- characterization of the new complexes by spectral (IR, UV-visible, 1H NMR, Mass , XRD, 1H NMR and ESR) and magnetic measurements. 3- The proposed chemical formulae of the ligand and their metal complexes are in good agreement with the stoichiometries concluded from their analytical data of carbon, hydrogen and metal contents. 4- Detailed thermal analysis for the prepared complexes was performed in the temperature range 30-700 or 800˚C. 5- pH metric study was carried out to evaluate the dissociation constants of the hydrazone as well as the stability constants of the formed metal complexes. 6- the antibacterial ,antifungl, and the antitumor activity for H4MPA and their metal complexes are shown. |
