Abstract

The present work aims to isolate and study of clinically isolated streptococcus spp. Identification of the effect of some commercially available antibiotics on the tested isolates. By using PCR, studying the prevalence of superantigens genes of Streptococcus pyogenes and some virulence factors and surface protein genes of Streptococcus agalactiae. Different virulence factors have been identified in the tested isolates in addition to classification of the isolates by BOX PCR and serotyping methods. Thirty-eight and 32 isolates of Streptococcus pyogenes and Streptococcus agalactiae, respectively were isolated. All the tested isolates were resistant to all tested antibiotics except amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, amoxicillin, ampicillin and vancomycin. S. pyogenes isolates were classified into five different serotypes and six isolates were untypeable, while S. agalactiae isolates were classified into five different serotypes. speJ gene was the most identified in Streptococcus pyogenes isolates, while speM, speL and smez genes were not identified in any isolates, 33 different gene profiles were obtained. saga sib gene was identified in 75% of Streptococcus agalactiae isolates. Thirty-one and twenty-five different DNA patterns were produced by S. pyogenes and S. agalactiae isolates, respectively.
