Abstract

Introduction: Sustainable development has become the concern of all scientists and researchers in our time. To apply sustainable development in the field of structural engineering, modern environmentally friendly materials are developed and discovered. Research field: Application of techniques for obtaining improved mechanical properties of environmentally friendly bricks by using industrial waste materials in the manufacture of green bricks containing fly ash, slag and metakaolin with Portland cement, limestone. br>Research Objectives: This thesis aims to study the possibility of producing environmentally friendly bricks using industrial waste materials at high rates of up to 90% so that it works on developing the partial structure of the bricks and thus giving the bricks strength and durability. The main objective of the research is how we can use industrial waste in making eco-friendly bricks from fly ash, slag and metakaolin with Portland cement limestone. Since further reductions in the clinker content of cement is a key component in reducing carbon dioxide emissions and conserving energy, Portland limestone cement containing 30% limestone was used with the aim of achieving sustainability and preserving the environment. Slag was used as small aggregate instead of natural sand and fine slag was used as a filler binder. Nine mixtures were prepared and implemented for the manufacture of environmentally friendly bricks. The variables were changing the proportions of the substituent materials with different proportions of Portland cement and limestone. The bulk density, pressure resistance and water absorption of the manufactured brick samples were set. Study steps: In this research, a study was made of the previous research. Then a study was made of the properties of the materials used during the research, a description of the scientific program, the main variables in the study, the various tests that were conducted, as well as the samples used. the exams. Abstract of the study: The results indicated that the use of a large percentage of fly ash (80%) reduces the density of the mixture and produces an economical lightweight brick that can be used in non-load bearing walls. A significant improvement in the compressive strength of bricks was observed using a triple mixture of fly ash, cement and metakaolin (35 % FA + 25 % MK + 30 % PLC) with 10% BFS slag sand. The compressive strength at 28 days of age was 27 MPa, making it suitable In the case of load-bearing building. In addition, the results of the brick samples tests showed that the water absorption was less than 12%. All mixtures fulfilled the requirements of the different building codes. The results confirmed the possibility of recycling large quantities of fly ash, slag and metacholine with Portland cement limestone in brick industry without burning to save energy and preserve the environment.
