Abstract

The objective of this study is to develop and evaluate the performance of collecting-packing implement to raise the gardens residues. Through this target, design a mechanical system that begins with collecting residues then ends to packaging it as a tiny-bale, evaluating the performance of each unit of the developed system separately, determining the best operating levels for each unit and the compatibility of the operating levels for the all implement, evaluating the performance of the mechanical system and its production quality and determine the machine performance in field operation and compared it with laboratory and manual tests. The studied variables for the implement were include : 1- Collecting-delivery unit; diameters of suction tube ”STD” (10, 15 and 20 cm), revolution of blower ”BR” (1000, 1700, 2400 and 3100 rpm), diameters of delivery tube ”DTD” (10, 15 and 20 cm) and tree-leaves moisture contents are about ”RMC” (14% ”free DROP leaves” and 64% ”forced DROP leaves”). 2- Packing unit; auger rotational speeds (34, 44, 54 and 64 rpm) and tree-leaves moisture contents are about (14, 16 and 64%). To evaluate the performance of implement, the measurement and determination include: A- Collecting-delivery unit: decrease in residues volume (%), residues bulk density (kg m-3), the percentage of increase in the bulk density (%), blower efficiency (%), collecting-delivery unit productivity (kg h-1), and specific energy consumed (kW h Mg-1). B- Packing package unit: the volume and stability of produced tiny-bale (volume, immediately after forming - after forming within 72 hours), bulk density (immediately after forming - 72 hours after shaping), auger flow rate (m3 h-1) and specific energy consumed (kW h Mg-1). The study recommends the possibility of using the developed implement for collecting and packing garden residues in a good way, especially when collecting deciduous leaves, whether green or dry, adjusted the implement to suit in the case of dry-residues to use the suction tube diameter of 10 cm, the revolution of blower is 3100 rpm, the delivery tub diameter of 15 cm and auger speed of 64 rpm. In the case of green or wet-residues, the suction tube diameter of 15 cm, the revolution of blower is 3100 rpm, the delivery tub diameter of 20 cm and auger speed of 64 rpm.
