Abstract

Under environmental conditions of Al-Nassimia warehouse, Mansoura Branch, El-Mansoura Center, Agricultural Bank of Egypt, a storage experiment was carried out from 27th April to 27th December, 2019. The objective of this storage experiment was to realize the effect of storage methods, packages type and times of fumigation grains with phosphine on storage efficiency during storage periods, grains quality and germination and seedlings parameter of wheat under the environmental conditions of Dakahlia Governorate, Egypt. The experiment was arranged in a factorial experiment in randomized complete block design (RCBD) with four replications. The first factor contained different four storage periods of wheat grains after harvesting time directly as follows: 1. Storage for 2 months. 2. Storage for 4 months. 3. Storage for 6 months. 4. Storage for 8 months. The second factor included three storage methods for wheat grains as follows: 1. Stored wheat grains in sunlight (control method). 2. Stored wheat grains under shadow. 3. Stored wheat grains in stores. The third factor included four packages type for wheat grains as shown in Fig. 2 as follows: • Normal storage. 1. Stored wheat grains in normal packages (twisting plastic). 2. Stored wheat grains in gunny packages. • Sealing storage. 1. Stored wheat grains in polyethylene (nylon) packages. 2. Stored wheat grains in metal containers. The fours factor was times of fumigation grains with phosphine after beginning the storage as follows: 1. Treating wheat grains with phosphine after 15 days from beginning the storage. 2. Treating wheat grains with phosphine after 30 days from beginning the storage. 3. Treating wheat grains with phosphine after 45 days from beginning the storage. STUDIED charACTERS: A. Storage efficiency characters: 1. Number of insects. 2. Insect infestation percentage (%). 3. Grain weight loss percentage (%). B. Grains quality: 1. Crude protein percentage (%): 2. Total carbohydrates percentage (%): C. Germination and seedlings parameters: 1. Final germination percentage (%). 2. Abnormal seedlings percentage (%). 3. Rotten grains percentage (%). 4. Sold grains percentage (%). 5. Speed germination index (SGI). 6. Germination index (GI %). 7. Co-efficient of germination (CG). 8. Mean germination time (day). 9. Germination energy percentage (GE %). 10. Shoot length (cm). 11. Root length (cm). 12. Seedling vigor index (SVI). 13. Seedlings dry weight (g).
