Abstract

Biuret is produced as a secondary component during the manufacture of urea at a temperature of 132 °C. It must be kept in mind that the poisoning of plants caused by some cause may be calculated as the result of biuret. Therefore, the objective of this work is to study the impact of urea gradient concentrations of biuret on the performance of wheat and maize plants and find out the allowable concentration of biuret without depression in nutritional values and yield of wheat and maize plants. Experimental Design : Wheat and maize plant were cultivated in lysimeters in a farm of Egyptian Fertilizers Development Center, El-Delta Company for Fertilizers and Chemical Industries (ASMEDA) in Talkha, Dakahlia Governorate. It was planted during the winter season of 2019/2020 and summer 2020 to effect of urea gradient concentration of biuret on some plants Clay Soil. In addition, the optimum effect of different concentrations of biuret on growth, yield, yield components and the availability of nutrients for used masr wheat cultivar 1 and white maize single cultivar 2031. Wheat seeds (masr wheat cultivar 1) and corn grain (white maize single cultivar 2031) were kindly obtained from the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation (General Administration of Seed Approval, Mansoura screening station). The lysimeters experiment was carried out in a factorial experiment in a complete randomized block design (CRBD) with three replications. The examination was completed in a part plot outline with three reproduces. Each trial included eighteen concentrations containing, six concentrations of biuret application. These treatments were: * Control. * 0.6 % biuret. * 1.4 % biuret. * 2.4 % biuret. * 5.6 % biuret. * 8.0 % biuret. The results obtained showed that : The best results were obtained when using urea with a concentration of 0.6% of biuret, followed by a concentration of 1.4% of biuret. When using urea with high concentrations of biuret 2.4%, 5.6% and 8.0%, led to a significant decrease in productivity. Conclusion: Obtained results increase our knowledge concerning the toxicity effect of biuret on plant performance and crop yield. It could be concluded that fertilization by urea which contains 0.6 % biuret has not any harmful effect on wheat and maize plants growth and leads to improve plant growth and final yield. Also, wheat and maize plants resist the biuret concentration in urea fertilizer even 1.4% without a sharp decrease in plant performance, while the sharp decreases of both growth criteria and crop progressively occur as the biuret concentration increased.
