Abstract

The percentage of the mycelial growth inhibition of B. cinerea by the antagonistic fungus T. reesei was 69.2%.The inhibition zone (IZ) was 2.8 mm by T. reeseitowards the plant pathogen B. cinerea. Effect on mycelial growthof B. cinerea The concentration of 70% from the culture filtrate ofT. reeseicaused a great decrease in B. cinerea growth by 94.6%. Also, 60% concentration of the filtrate inhibited the colony growth by 73.7%. Mycelial growth of B. cinerea was prevented by the ethyl acetate extract of T. reesei at all concentrations. T. reesei ethyl acetate extract completely suppressed B. cinerea growth at 10, 15 mg/mL. 67 Summary
Effect on spore germination of B. cinerea Spore germination of the fungal pathogen was prevented by 97.6% at the concentration of 70% from the culture filtrate of T. reesei. The concentration of 50, and 60% of the culture filtrate inhibited the spore germination of B. cinerea by 72.1, and 83.7%, respectively. Complete inhibition of fungal spore germination of B. cinerea was observed at the concentrations of 10, and 15 mg/mL of ethyl acetate extract of T. reesei. The ethyl acetateextract inhibited the conidial germination of B. cinereaby 85% at the concentration of 5 mg/mL. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis The analysis of T. reesei ethyl acetate extract led to the identification of 12 different compounds, representing 80.63% of the total extract. Benzenedicarboxylic acid (Phthalic acid) was the major component in the ethyl acetate extract at 74.64%. 11-Octadecenoic acid, methyl ester, Hexadecanoic acid, methyl ester, and 9,12-Octadecadienoic acid, methyl ester were the prominent constituents in the extract by 9.90, 4.52, and 4.00%, respectively”
