Abstract The economic power of any country is determined by its output carbon steel. Thus, studies on carbon steel properties and electrochemical behavior always receive a great attention. In such respect, the corrosion and corrosion inhibition of carbon steel in the different media become very interesting and important subject due to the wide applicability of steel in industry and domestic life. The aim of our work in this thesis is to evaluate the corrosion inhibition of arylthiophene compounds in aqueous solution, especially acid solution that are commonly used in industry. The chemical, electrochemical measurements, surface examination and theoretical calculations support the assumption that corrosion inhibition occurs due to the adsorption of arylthiophene inhibitors on the carbon steel surface. An agreement was established among these different independent techniques from which the validity of the obtained data is verified. This thesis also contains references, Arabic and English summaries. |
