Abstract

Wireless communication in mmwave frequency range solves the raised problems due to the enormous number of users and the unprecedented density of transmitted information. Space Time Block Code (STBC) with Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) system is considered one of most technologies which can achieve high performance in wireless links. Moreover, it has attractive characteristics of the linear decoding and detection and thus become the most popular among different Space Time Coding techniques. In addition, hybrid precoding and combining method in mmwave-MIMO system is considered an efficient way to improve the performance of the system. Accordingly, the main objective of this thesis is to take the benefits of the different characteristics of the mmwave in the 5G system. Also, based on the MIMO system, we evaluate the performance of the wireless communication networks, which offered significant capacity gains over the traditional Single-Input Single-Output (SISO), Multiple-Input Single-Output (MISO) and Single-Input Multiple-Output (MISO) Systems. The thesis is divided in to two parts, first part considered the MIMO_STBC system to calculate the capacity for different number of antenna in transmitter and receiver side (2×2), (3×3), (4×4) ,the BER was calculated to compare the performance of the proposed system using different modulation schemes, namely Binary Phase Shift (BPSK), Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK), M-ary Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (4-QAM)-(16-QAM)-(64-QAM)-(256-QAM) and Trellies coded modulation ( TCM). Also, the study was applied for Rayleigh and Rician channel fading at different number of transmit and receive antennas using uniform linear array. In the second part, a hybrid precoding at the transmitter and combining at the receiver terminal based on the Orthogonal Matching Pursuit (OMP). then, to calculate the spectral efficiency, a comparative study was conducted with analog beam string and single user for single path and multi _paths channels, additionally, the Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) was measured and compared only with analog beamforming and Zero Forcing (ZF)precoder. Thesis Objectives: • Evaluate the performance of MIMO system based on mmwave using each of the following separately Space Time Block Code (STBC). Hybrid precoding in transmitter and combining in receiver side. •Evaluate the proposed system performance in terms of the following; Capacity,  the BER, and the spectral efficiency. • Study the MIMO system with STBC using different modulation schemes for both Rayleigh and Rician channel fading. • Improve the performance of the system using hybrid precoding in transmitter side and combining in receiver side using low complexity system based on Orthogonal Matching Pursuit (OMP).
