Abstract

This study describes the integration of text mining algorithms and semantic web services to generate lesson’s educational objectives; the suggested system is based on text mining methods and its technologies like (tokenization and stemming). Semantic web services, like ontology web language (OWL). OWL is a Web-based language for constructing ontologies; it represents a domain in terms of classes, attributes, objects, and descriptions of their features. Despite the fact that OWL is not a programming language, the study used extra tools like Java, SPARQL, and the JENA library. In this study, the learning objectives are generated automatically by the proposed system through four phases, and will be summarized as follows: 1. The stage of creating the ontology file: the inputs of this stage are the basic keywords in lessons, as data must be entered by the ontology expert. 2. Text mining stage: The inputs of this stage are the lesson content that the tutor entered into the program, as the outputs are all the keywords of the lesson separately after applying the text mining techniques. 3. Stage of connecting to the ontology file: In this stage, the ontology file in the first stage is linked to the proposed system through using Java programming language, JENA libraries, and SPARQL query language, the keywords in the ontology file are the outputs of this process. 4. Stage of matching text and formulating learning objectives: In this stage, the text matching process takes place between the outputs of the second stage and the outputs of the third stage, uploading the ILOs verbs skilfully, cognitively and psychologically, then rearranging the sentences and printing them. The proposed system has been implemented on the computer subject for the third grade in the preparatory stage in the Egyptian system of Education. Therefor in the particular lesson, the proposed system generated a variety of instructional objectives (skilled, cognitive, and psychological). The educational objectives created out of the three computer lessons were judged by the human arbitration committee in computer subject to verify some variables on them (grammatical errors, ambiguity, and relevance of the electronic course). The number of educational objectives obtained by the proposed system was superior to that obtained by the human judges. As a result, the higher ability of the proposed system that generates more educational objectives than the human judges’ ability to implement on each. keyword in lessons and that exactly is what the system is supposed to do.
