Maritime roads are considered as one the most important means of maritime transportation for communication between ports in safe navigational conditions, and they include all seas, oceans and navigational channels whose draft allows ships to pass through. Navigational channels are among the most important means of transport as they shorten the distance between two seas or two oceans, and they are waterways used in the connection between different regions, especially in populated areas and industrial areas. Navigational channels are evaluated according to their impact, geographical location, and their ability to serve the surrounding areas, as well as their ability to adapt to global changes, especially in the field of maritime transport. The Suez Canal and its global importance as the largest and most important shipping lane for world trade movement,Hence the establishment of anew canal parallel to the original canal and maximizing the use of the canal and its current branches in order to achieve the largest proportion of duplication for ships to run in both directions without stopping in waiting areas inside the canal and increases its capacity for the passage of ships in light of the expected growth in the volume of global trade in the future. It raises the degree of confidence in the canal as the best international navigation corridor and reduces the value of thinking about alternative competitive canal in the world and the region. The Suez Canal Axis project is the integrated development of the Suez Canal region,In also seeks to develop the project in to being a regional on that competes globally in the field of logistics and advanced industries, as it has attractive potentials in many fields and activities, and the most developed in the word, these are transport, energy, logistics and tourism, along with the strategic projects, that will transform the Suez canal in to the largest water way in the world, provide on million job opportunities, and attract investment opportunities in general and tourism investment in particular, the canal has already been opened in 2016Problem of the study Port Said is considered one of the tourist destinations that is characterized by the multiplicity and diversity of tourism patterns as well as the site and its archaeological places. Despite this importance, the rate of incoming tourism is very low compared to similar tourist places due to the lack of tourism infrastructure, and the lack of tourism projects in it, so planning tourism projects requires A new vision capable of placing Port Said on the map of international tourism and linking it to the neighboring tourist regions.Important of the Study The purposes of this study were to determine the following:1)Determining the role of the Suez Canal axis in the flow of tourist traffic in the study area. 2)To highlight tourism and logistical projects that are in line with the nature of the study area to increase the rate of tourism development in Port Said 3)Shedding light on the new Suez Canal axis on attracting foreign and local investments in the study area. Objectives of the study The study is based on a basic assumption that was identified with reference to the studies objectives and some and some previous studies related to the subject of the study and it was formulated as follows: The development of East Tafria on the axis of the Suez Canal will reflect positively on the tourism development in Port Said. Limitations of the Study 1)Spatial determinants represented in the study area (Port Said city).2)Time limits represented in conducting personal interviews with various bodies specialized in the study and distributing survey forms in the period from October 2018 to October 2022.Methodology of the Study The researcher relied on the analytical approach to the nature of the proposed projects and studied them through the tourism perspective and the extent of their impact on the region through study and research, and this comes in the form of:Theoretical Study: through books, various scientific theses, research, periodicals, scientific and foreign references, bulletins, reports and studies of a number of government agencies and agencies specialized in the subject of the study.Practical Study: by designing a survey form and conducting personal interviews with officials, tourism experts and environmental planners in the various relevant government agencies and ministries. Results of the Study Most of the study sample companies target foreign tourism. This result is due to the dependence of most tourism companies in the Port Said region on Al-Hajj and Al-Umrah trips and religious tourism, in addition to their adoption of organizing travel trips to foreign countries such as Turkey, Thailand and Lebanon. Also, most of these companies rely heavily on the reservation and issuance of airline tickets in addition to the issuance of tourist visas.The study sample companies tended to choose foreign tourism as a tourist pattern due to the stagnation of tourism movement. This result is due to the economic and health conditions that the world suffers from in those days as a result of the outbreak of the Corona pandemic in the world, which severely affected the tourism movement. It is also noted that there are no statistically significant differences between the study sample companies in terms of the reasons that prompted the company to choose foreign tourism as a tourist pattern Most of the companies in the study sample provide hotels and tourist villages to their customers. This result is due to the desire of tourism companies to provide comfortable and luxurious accommodation.There are no statistically significant differences between the study sample companies in terms of accommodation facilities provided by the company to tourists.The commercial market is what is unique to the city of Port Said and distinguishes it from other tourist destinations in addition to some other destinations such as Port Said food and restaurants and Port Said cultural folklore.Shopping tourism is the most preferred mode for tourists, followed by summer and beach tourism.There are other styles that tourists prefer, such as bird watching (seagulls), cultural tourism, food tourism, and sports tourism.The tourism companies organize tourist programs and trips to the commercial market. The tourism companies organize the study sample tourism programs for other tourist places, including the Port Fouad area, the statue of Delesbes and the Fish Ring.Preparing tourist programs according to the desires of tourists.Most of the tourists visited Port Said throughout the year. There are significant statistical differences between the study sample companies regarding the time that the tourist prefers to visit Port Said. This result indicates the multiplicity and diversity of the climate and weather in Port Said to suit the different desires of tourists.The most common and used port for tourists is the land port. Despite this, the percentage of tourists visiting Port Said is weak.Yacht tourism is the tourist patterns that can be exploited in the study area.The most prominent problems of tourists lie in the exploitation of tourists, the biggest problems that the tourist faces when visiting the city of Port Said, overcrowding and hygiene are the second most important problems that the tourist faces when visiting the city of Port Said.Recommendations of the StudyBased on the results of the study, the current study recommended the following:Improving the infrastructure (roads - communications - bridges - electricity, etc.) in the study area.Designing promotional plans for Port Said and the tourist destinations therein, and designing special tourism programs commensurate with the nature of the study area.Increasing the tourism awareness of citizens to maintain the cleanliness of the city and not to waste its natural resources.Involving the local community in tourism work by providing different job opportunities in different tourist places.Highlighting the unknown tourist patterns in Port Said (such as eco-tourism in Ashtum El-Gamil Reserve and folklore tourism).Establishing a civilian tourist airport in Port Said and organizing civil flights at Port Said Airport.Create accommodations near tourist destinations. Accommodations should suit the different segments of tourists.Increasing control over customs and ports.Providing legal and administrative facilities in the study area (one of the experts suggested opening a special center to facilitate business similar to the same center affiliated to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers in Cairo Governorate).Providing subsidiary services for tourists (taxi - money exchange and currency exchange).Providing tour guides or tour operators.Creating new tourist patterns in the study area, such as bird watching and food tourism. It is necessary to develop different types of tourism through the organization of cruises.Organizing school trips to visit historical and archaeological sites. It should also shed light on bird watching tourism in order to make the tourism development in the city of Port Said go according to the continuous change of tourist demand.
