Abstract

Among the most important elements in aircraft structures are joints. In this thesis, the effect of holes on the stress concentration of function grade materials have been studied, and compared by laminated and isotropic materials. In addition, the optimum functionally graded material composition is obtained and the optimum central distance between two holes in a plate is also obtained. The results have shown that, the laminated materials is of higher strength than the functionally graded material, and the smaller the central distance between the two holes the smaller the stress concentration.
