Preservation of the national heritage environments is important for the preservation of the natural diversity and the cities’ cultural heritage. Heritage environments differ from a unique location to another, earning their value from being associated with important events or people, or being of architectural meaning or distinct religious value, or being the areas of historical work; as a record for all time of the city’s memory. Instead of being considered a luxury, especially in developing communities where problems of unemployment and lack of education and healthcare are suffered, preserving heritage environments and directing investments to these areas have become active means to raising living standards in contemporary planning approaches worldwide. Hence, the importance of heritage protection is redefined in both urban and architectural terms, not only to maintain the heritage and civilization or culture, but also as a basis for investment and a key ingredient for cultural tourism. It has become clear that there should be a conscious policy to deal with the potential of these environments instead of wasting and loss of wealth; a policy that aims to stimulate the overall development through preserving not only the restoration effect or the historic component, but attention to the impact on surrounding environments. In this sense, projects should be well prepared reintroduce these heritage environments to the world in the form of cultural fit with the alternating requirements of the modern era to achieve economic returns as well as social, and cultural outcomes. Beyond an identification of the problem and the main aim of the study, the research has been based on two methods: a comparative analytical method that draws upon critical perspectives derived from the available literature and past experiments, and the experimental method described in the application and futuristic scenarios, as described in the following frameworks: Theoretical framework: In the theoretical part, a number of heritage environments’ preservation concepts are demonstrated as the foundations of the traditional investment approaches, with analytical approach to possible funding and projects’ sustainability. Besides, the tools and technologies that can be used when investing in heritage environments are discussed and analyzed. Then, best practice and a wide range of corresponding examples of different heritage environments worldwide have been investigated, to pave the way for the formulation of the proposed methodology for investing in heritage environments. Experimental framework: The empirical framework is specified with respect to the terms of the proposed methodology and examined by applying it to one of the heritage environments and measuring its impact through a series of actions to conclude the results associated with both the theoretical and practical frameworks, followed by general recommendations on the main issue.
