Abstract

Hepatitis C is a major cause of liver-related morbidity and mortality worldwide and represents a major public health problem. Egypt has the highest countrywide prevalence of hepatitis C virus in the world, with an estimated 8-10 million among a population of 68 milion having been exposed to the virus and 5-7 million activ infection and the prevalence of antibodies to HCV is approximately 10-fold greater than in the United states and Europe.
